Adam C. Hyde, M.B.I.E.
Owner/Supervisor/Embalmer and Funeral Director
Adam C. Hyde was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama—often called “the Pittsburgh of the South.” The nickname comes from the city’s deep roots in the steel industry, including U.S. Steel’s second steel mill outside of Pittsburgh, along with pipe and tin mills, blast furnaces, and its own railroad.
Adam and his wife, Angela, have been married for 21 years and are proud parents to two children, Hannah (18) and Jackson (15). Together, Adam and Angela own and operate Turner-Hyde Funeral & Cremation Services, continuing a tradition of local, family ownership that dates to 1943.
Adam’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in educational leadership (M.Ed.) from the University of Dayton. He is also a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and holds Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses in both Alabama and Pennsylvania. In addition, Adam serves as an Embalming Consultant for Champion Chemical Company of Springfield, OH, the oldest embalming fluid company in the United States, founded in 1878.
In March 2025, Adam was honored with membership in the British Institute of Embalmers—an achievement earned through nomination, extensive professional experience, and advanced training in embalming as well as restorative and reconstructive art.
Adam’s career has taken him across the Southeast and beyond. He began in Kissimmee, Florida, at Osceola Memory Gardens Crematory & Cemetery, serving more than 2,000 families each year as a Funeral Director and Embalmer Apprentice and Certified Crematory Operator. He later returned to Alabama, where he became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer while working at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home and Crematory. After relocating back to Florida, Adam held several leadership roles, including lead embalmer, licensed funeral director, crematory operator, and general manager, serving thousands of families and multiple Catholic parishes throughout the Orlando area.
In October 2019, Adam and Angela took what they call “the risk of a lifetime” and moved to Ellwood City, where they purchased Turner Funeral Home. In time, they renamed it Turner-Hyde Funeral & Cremation Services to honor its rich history while looking toward the future.
Today, Adam and Angela are proud to call Ellwood City home and are deeply involved in the community. Adam is an active member of the Ellwood City Rotary Club and a three-time Paul Harris Fellow. He is also a member of the Ellwood-Parian Masonic Lodge F&AM and a Sir Knight of Lorraine Commandery No. 78 of the Knights Templar.
The Hyde family proudly supports American Legion Post 157, and the funeral home maintains memberships in several professional associations, including the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and regional funeral director organizations.
When they’re not working or volunteering, Adam, Angela, and their children enjoy traveling, camping, and—most of all—making trips to “Happy Valley” to cheer on the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Greatest Show in College Football.

Kenneth Clarence Turner (1924-1992)
Founder of Kenneth C. Turner Funeral Home(1957) and Turner Funeral Home(1976)
Kenneth C. Turner, Sr. was born and raised in Ellwood City. He was the son of an immigrant, Charles (Triano) Turner, who came to the United States in 1912 from San Gregorio nelle Aloi in the Veneto region of Italy. Like many families at the time, the original family name was changed at Ellis Island to a more Americanized version—Turner.
Ken always dreamed of becoming a funeral director, but without the money to attend school, he chose another path first. During World War II, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater, including Peleliu and the Battle of Luzon. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
After returning home, Ken attended the Cleveland College of Embalming and earned his Pennsylvania funeral director’s license in 1949. He began his career working for Frederick William “Bill” Patton at Patton Memorial Home, where he remained until Mr. Patton’s passing in 1957. Ken then continued operating the business by paying rent to the Patton family before eventually purchasing the funeral home and renaming it the Kenneth C. Turner Funeral Home.
As the business grew, Ken expanded and modernized the facility. He added a large chapel, three additional visitation rooms, new restrooms, and a state-of-the-art sound system. He also made Turner’s the first handicap-accessible funeral home in Ellwood City—something he felt strongly about.
In 1976, Ken took on the Pennsylvania State Funeral Board, challenging outdated laws that prevented funeral homes from incorporating. That same year, Turner Funeral Home, Inc. was established with license number one—a milestone the family remains very proud of. In addition to the Ellwood City location, Ken also owned Turner-Myers Funeral Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
Kenneth C. Turner, Sr. passed away in 1992 at the age of 67 after a battle with cancer. Following his passing, his sons continued to own and operate the funeral home until it was purchased by Adam C. Hyde in 2019, eventually becoming Turner-Hyde Funeral & Cremation Services.

Jack Ryan Turner (1955-2025)
Former Owner of Turner-Myers Funeral Home and Turner Funeral Home
Jack R. Turner was born and raised in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Lincoln High School. He continued his education at Baldwin Wallace College and later completed his mortuary science training at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He received one of the school’s top awards because of his skill with embalming and restorative art.
Jack was married to Gretchen Lemke Turner and was a devoted father to three children—Brett, Ian, and Keelan Turner—and a proud grandfather to Callum Turner.
He received his Funeral Director and Embalmer’s license in 1976. In 1980, after his father, Kenneth C. Turner, Sr., purchased Turner-Myers Funeral Home, Jack relocated to New Castle, where he owned and operated Turner-Myers until it closed in 2017. Throughout his career, Jack was known for his kindness, compassion, and genuine care for the families he served. Jack was the epitome of being a funeral director through his special way, his gentle words and his immense compassion that she showed to the families he served over his entire career.
Outside of his work, Jack had a love for British cars, especially Mini Coopers, and was well known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. Jack was always a cat lover, especially caring for his 17 year old cat Gouda, who preceded him in death.
After Turner-Myers closed, Jack returned to Turner Funeral Home—now Turner-Hyde Funeral & Cremation Services—where he helped support the transition under new owner Adam C. Hyde. Although he formally retired in 2021, Jack never really stopped working. He especially enjoyed plowing snow and continued doing so right up until the late fall of 2024.
Jack passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 69. He was still living behind the funeral home and remained a constant presence, always there for his friends, family, and the Turner-Hyde team. He even helped with maintenance as recently as a month before his passing.
Jack will always be part of Turner-Hyde, and he will be deeply missed by Adam C. Hyde, the staff, and the many families and friends whose lives he touched.
