Phyllis Catherine Boots Moyer

Phyllis Catherine Boots Moyer, 87, of Schill Manor, Ellwood City, formerly of Fombell, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday morning, October 31, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Fombell on May 17, 1927 to the late John W. Boots and the late Anna Wehman Boots. She married Lloyd Elmer Moyer on June 12, 1948. He survives. Phyllis and Lloyd owned and operated Moyer Farm Dairy from 1959 until 1972 and remained on the farm until August 2012 when they moved to R.J. Schill Manor. After selling the dairy, Phyllis worked as a rural mail carrier out of the Fombell Post Office. Phyllis loved laughter, talking to and spending time with friends, square dancing, and the Sheer Luck Card Club. She was a member of Ellwood City Women’s Club and the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women, United Wesleyan Sunday School Class, and the church’s annual apple butter festival. She volunteered with Lloyd for Ellwood and Zelienople Meals on Wheels and also the Angel Food program. Phyllis made beautiful wedding cakes and was also a great seamstress. She loved making afghans and quilts, especially for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Norman Boots, her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (and Harold) Armstrong, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Moyer.

Phyllis is survived, in addition to her husband, Lloyd, by two sons and a daughter: Bryan Moyer of Franklin Township, Stanley (and Debra) Moyer of Akron, OH, and Barbara (and Sam) Miller of Huron, OH. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Joshua (and Mandy) Moyer and Kelly (and Jeff) Goshe, and five great grandchildren: Caitlin, Christopher, Lucy, and James Moyer and Sylvia Goshe.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Monday, November 3, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church, 1244 Portersville Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117 with Rev. Jean Smith, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in St. John’s Burry’s Church Cemetery, Marion Township.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made, in Phyllis’ name, to the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church, or to Pine Valley Bible Camp, 504 Chapel Drive, Ellwood City, PA 16117.
