Harold W. “Bud” Davidson

Harold W. “Bud” Davidson, 78, of 721 Morningstar Drive, Ellwood City (Franklin Twp.) went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, August 21, 2009 at his residence.

He was born in Aliquippa, PA on March 14, 1931 to the late Harold C. and Mary King Davidson.

He graduated from Hopewell High School in Hopewell Twp. and also from Geneva College with a BS in chemistry. He was active in Jaycees and the Connoquenessing Country Club in Ellwood City and served as President of both.

He served in the US Army from 1954-56.

A professional chemist, he owned Beaver Alkali Products and Davidson Industries for many years, and the Beaver Valley Bowl in Rochester.

He is an active member and served as an elder and deacon at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City, where he taught the M&M Adult Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred “Midge” McAnany Davidson. Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law: Gerry (and Joani) Davidson of Pittsburgh; Randy (and Cheryl) Davidson of Dover Florida; and H. Bradley (and Bettejean) Davidson, of Ellwood City.

Nine Grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren survive.

He is also survived by one brother, Robert D. Davidson, of Monaca, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 P.M. on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 615 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, where a Witness to the Resurrection and Celebration of Bud’s Life will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., with his pastor, Rev. James Latta, officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Calvin Presbyterian Church Deacon’s Fund, or to the Carpenter’s Project, or to the Ellwood City Area Public Library New Building Fund.
