Shirley M. Scrivo

Shirley M. Scrivo, 81, of the Golden Hill Nursing Home, New Castle, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, February 11, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle following a lengthy illness.

She was born in New Castle on July 27, 1932 to the late John T. Atchison, who passed away on June 20, 1944, and the late Marie F. Dooley Atchison, who passed away on April 24, 2007. She graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1950 and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City where she served as a deacon. She worked as a secretary for many years at First Federal Savings & Loan and People’s Building & Loan in Beaver Falls. She was a member of the Golden Agers Club and American Business Women and enjoyed shopping, sewing, and needlework.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Bruno Scrivo, on March 2, 2004.

Shirley is survived by a sister and two brothers: Betty A. Campbell of New Castle and Jack T. (and Ruth) Atchison and Gerald E. (and Anna Mae) Atchison, all of New Brighton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, February 14, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Friends may also call from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at TURNER’S with Rev. R. Tod Custer, her pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery in Wampum.
