Nina G. Main Freed

Nina G. Main Freed, 89, of the Haven Convalescent Home, New Castle, formerly of Wampum and Homewood, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday evening, May 29, 2013 at the Haven following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Ellwood City on September 4, 1923 to the late Carl Main and the late Lena Burr Main. She was a member of Homewood United Methodist Church and Challenges Options on Aging. Nina was very family-oriented and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and visiting with friends and relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Carl G. “Pete” Freed on September 13, 1993. She was also preceded by two brothers and three sisters, Bidwell and Madison Main, Ethel Streckheisen Piper, Emma Druschel, and Madolyn Majors.

She is survived by her two daughters: Carlyn (and David) Biddle of Ellwood City and Marjorie (and Arthur) Terracio of Wampum. Seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive, as well as two sisters, Leona Zeigler and Carolyn Smith, both of Ellwood City.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. today, Friday, May 31, 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at TURNER’S with Rev. Gary Hilton, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Clinton Cemetery, New Beaver Borough.
