E. Regina Turner

E. Regina Turner, 87, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, March 7, 2012 in the Passavant Retirement Center, Zelienople.

She was born in Rose Point, PA on May 7, 1924 to the late Clyde and Lillian Bleakney Wimer. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1942, and was an executive secretary at the former Ellwood Works of U.S. Steel during WWII. Later, with her husband, Ken, they founded Turner Funeral Home, now run by her sons.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Kenneth C. Turner, who died on March 2, 1991.

Regina was a longtime member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City, where she had served as an elder and a deacon. She was also a member of the Ellwood City Garden Guild, Wimodausis, Eastern Star #212, Womans Club, the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary, Mother’s Study Club, and B.P.W.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Wimer.

She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth C. (and Pam) Turner of Ellwood City, and Jack R. (and Gretchen) Turner of New Castle, as well as four grandchildren, Brett, Kasey (and Erica), Ian, and Keelan Turner. She is also survived by her brother, J. Philip (and Lori) Wimer of Ellwood City, her sister, Carole (and Ken) Starz of Volant, and her sister-in-law, Patsy Wimer of Middle Lancaster.

Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at TURNER’S with Rev. James Latta, her pastor, and Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, pastor of Knox Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church, Ellwood City Meals on Wheels, or Canine Companions for Independence, North Central Region.
