Anthony P. Funari

Anthony P. Funari, of Patterson Heights, Beaver Falls, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, November 26, 2011, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was 55 years old, born to Anthony M. and Edna G. Sullivan Funari.

Anthony, better known as “Funum” to many of his close friends and family, leaves behind his wife, Bonnie Michaels Funari; his daughter, Amanda, at home; his mother, Edna G. Sullivan Funari of Ellwood City; a brother, Joseph and Lynn Funari of Ellwood City; and two sisters: Maria and Keith Hendershot of Marion Twp., and Gina and Tim Saxton of Boardman, OH. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Warren and Veda Michaels of Marion Twp.; and brothers-in-law Gary Michaels of North Sewickley Twp., and Ron and Kim Michaels of Ellwood City. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Lara and Zak Hendershot, Lauren and Taylor Funari, Anna, Alicia, and Ashley Saxton, and Seth and Melissa Michaels, and great niece Makenzie and great nephew Connor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony M. Funari.

Anthony was currently employed as a controller at Sensibility Soaps in West Mayfield, Beaver Falls. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1974 and Geneva College in 1978 with an accounting degree.

Anthony was best known for his incredible kindness towards others. He was very involved in assisting with many youth programs in Ellwood City and Beaver Falls. He was a member of the Sons of Italy in Ellwood City and a member of Holy Redeemer Parish.

Anthony was so very proud of his Italian heritage. His father was his hero in life, and he is together again with him in heaven.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 10 A.M. at Holy Redeemer Parish Church, 415 Fourth Street, Ellwood City.

Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, St. Peter’s Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made, in Anthony’s name, to the Holy Redeemer Ministerium Social Services, 603 Bridge Street, Ellwood City, PA 16117.
