Michael J. Plaveczki, Sr.

Michael J. Plaveczki, Sr., 88, of Northview Estates, Ellwood City, formerly of Mahoney Avenue, Ellport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday evening, October 7, 2011 at Northview Estates.

He was born in Alverda, PA on May 13, 1923 to the late Joseph Plaveczki and the late Anna Rabosky Plaveczki. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and married his wife of 64 years, Helen Mae Brouwere Plaveczki, who survives, on June 28, 1947. He retired from the Prudential Insurance Company in 1987, where he worked as an insurance agent and was a member of the Ellwood City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he served as an elder. He loved talking with people about God’s kingdom and the future promised in God’s Word, the Bible. He also enjoyed flying his own airplane and he had a great love for animals, particularly his dog, Jody.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Bill, Louis, Steve, and Joseph Plavecsky, a sister Anne Bennett, and another brother in infancy.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter, Marsha (and Gary) Rutter of Ellwood City, and a son, Michael J. (and Michele) Plaveczki of Walnut, CA, as well as a granddaughter, Rachelle Rutter (and Mickey) Urmann of Canton, GA, and two great grandchildren, Michael Cole and Riley Paige Urmann. A brother and three sisters-in-law, Paul (and Julie) Plavecsky and Ann Plavecsky, all of Ellwood City, and Irene Stead, of Cleveland, also survive.

No public visitation is planned.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. October 15, 2011 in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 317 State Route 288, Ellwood City, with Mr. Dennis Goss officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

The family wishes to thank the caring and devoted staff of Northview Estates and the staff of Southern Care Hospice.
