Joseph Pawol, Jr.

Joseph Pawol, Jr., 66, of Ellwood City (Franklin Township), passed away on Thursday evening, May 5, 2011 in UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born in Ellwood City on August 5, 1944 to the late Joseph Pawol, Sr., who died in 1979, and the late Velma Pander Pawol, who died in 1998. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Geneva College. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sullivan in the 1960’s. He worked in the pressroom and circulation department of the Ellwood City Ledger for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Rudolph, in 1976.

He is survived by his sister, Judith Pasta of Enon Valley, PA and his brother, Timothy W. (and Terri) Pawol of Pittsburgh.

Friends will be received from 12-2 P.M. on Sunday, May 8, 2011 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will follow at 2 P.M. on Sunday at TURNER’S with Rev. R. Tod Custer, of Christ Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Joseph’s name, to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
