Samuel Oprisu, Jr.

Samuel Oprisu, Jr., 87, of Cherry Hill Road, Ellwood City (North Sewickley Twp.) died on Monday evening, October 25, 2010 in the Mary Evans Extended Care Center of the Ellwood City Hospital.

He was born in Ellwood City on April 16, 1923 to the late Samuel Oprisu, Sr. and the late Elsie M. Harper Oprisu.

Sam was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Lipcsak Oprisu, on February 28, 1981, as well as two brothers: John Oprisu in 1985 and Eugene Oprisu in 1997.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter: Michael S. (and Mary) Oprisu of Ellwood City, Daniel G. (and Sherry) Oprisu of Chippewa, and Debra A. (and Bill) Farrar of Baden. Three granddaughters: Tiffany (and Adam) Dick of Cranberry, Stacy (and Chris) Giles of Irwin, and Jennifer Oprisu of Chippewa, two great grandchildren: Rylee Dick (two years) and Nicholas Giles (five months), as well as two sisters: Dorothy [Price] of Ellwood City and Mary Miller of Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, October 29, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, where a Parastas service will be held at 6:30 P.M.

Services will be conducted at 10 A.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 222 Short Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117 with Rev. Fr. John Sidor officiating, assisted by Rev. Fr. Richard Salley.

Interment fill follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, where the Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a flag presentation ceremony.
