Alfred C. "Bud" Duncan

Alfred C. “Bud” Duncan, 86, of 1132 Portersville Road, Ellwood City (Wayne Twp.), died on Thursday morning, October 21, 2010 in Silver Oaks Nursing Home in New Castle following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Ellwood City on December 15, 1923 to the late Dewey F. Duncan and the late Ethel N. Strohecker Duncan.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later worked at the former Aetna-Standard Engineering Company (Blaw-Knox Corp.). Bud raised pigeons, was a CB radio enthusiast, and had been actively involved in stockcar racing, especially at the Butler Speedway, where he drove the “Double Zero” car.

The last of his family, he was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two sisters: Elsie June Crawford and Dorothy Gongaware. He was also preceded by a son, David Duncan, in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline May Brewer Duncan, of New Castle. He is also survived by two sons: Jeffrey Duncan at home and Donald Duncan of Sharon.

Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 12 noon on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Interment will be in Wurtemburg Cemetery, Wayne Twp.
