Vonnie-Kaye Brough, 87, of Ellwood City passed away from this life and into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 2, 2025, surrounded by her family at Concordia at Rebecca Residence in Allison Park. She was the daughter of the late Russel Carl and Kathryn Elizabeth (Wiley) Galvin and was born September 13, 1938, in Ellwood City.

She is survived by her children; Robert Brough and his wife Lisa of Ellwood City, Chris Brough and his wife Shelley of Gibsonia, Aimee Brough of Newport, her grandchildren; Robyn Brough, Garrett Brough and his wife Haley, Shasta Postich, David Fike, Emily Brough, Elizabeth Brough, one great granddaughter; Cadence Postich, one brother; Robert “Bob” Galvin and his wife Nancy of New York.

Vonnie-Kaye was born and raised in Ellwood City. She was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School. She then attended Slippery Rock University where she received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career at Walnut Ridge Elementary School. She met her husband, Robert “Bob” Brough while attending college and they married in 1960. When they decided to start their family Vonnie-Kaye became a stay at home mom and she raised their three children; Rob, Chris and Aimee, but continued her love of “Storytelling” for the rest of her life, even working with the activities director at Rebecca Residence telling stories to the other residents. She was very active in her community. She was a founding member of the “Friends of the Fruitcake Club”. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Vonnie-Kaye was active for over 30 years with the Red Barn Theater being part of many on stage productions and behind the scenes. She was a Parrish Visitor for Calvin Presbyterian Church and she and Bob were active members of Concord Church. Vonnie-Kaye’s hobbies included collecting hedgehogs, camping and feeding chipmunks at Clear Creek State Park, and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 52 years, Dr. Robert G. Brough, Sr.

Friends may call on the family on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a Memorial Service following at 7:00pm with Pastor Chris Kindle, officiating at Turner-Hyde Funeral home in Ellwood City. 

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Perry Twp.
