Ronald C. Shaffer, 88, of New Castle passed away on June 12, 2026, at his residence. He was the son of the late Clair and Elwilda (Sherbine) Shaffer and was born April 1, 1938, in New Castle.

He is survived by his son Randy Shaffer and his wife Sue, his grandchildren; Derrick Schiefer, Amanda Humphrey, Starr Humphrey-Shaffer, Alesha Humphrey, and one great-granddaughter; Adalyn Johnson, his sister; Claudia Stover of San Diego, CA, one niece and nephew; Stefanie Stover-Scroggins and Kenny Stover.

Ronald was a 1957 graduate of New Castle High School. He was a US Navy Veteran serving proudly from 1957-1962. After his discharge from the Navy, he met and married his late wife, Betty Churchfield Shaffer in 1962. Ron was an Inspector at US Steel in Ellwood City, Ambridge and Lorain. He retired with over 30 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, his granddaughter, woodworking and his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Betty Shaffer and one aunt; Edith Sherbine

Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery in New Castle.
