Doran Keeley

Doran James Keeley, 71, of Bessemer, PA died on May 22, 2025 in Youngstown, OH following a brief illness. He was born on January 1, 1954, a son of the late Donald W. Keeley Sr. and Marjory "Marge" Phillips Keeley Nye.

A 1973 graduate of the Lawrence County Vo-Tech High School, Doran spent most of his life working as an electrician for Slippery Rock University, retiring as foreman in 2014.He married the love of his life, Diana Shivley Joynson, on August 16, 1995. She survives.

Doran loved working outdoors, especially in his backyard, scuba diving, fishing, listening to music, watching movies, woodworking, chopping firewood and sitting around a campfire. He was willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help.Doran was a member of the Bessemer Rod and Gun Club, which was close his heart. He was also a member of the Bessemer Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and worshiped with his family.

Doran was a beloved dad to his two daughters: Mary Kay (Nathan) Leslie of Bessemer and Cassie (Justin) Croll of Slippery Rock. He was a beloved “Pappy” to his grandchildren: Raylan Croll, Cora Croll, Carson Leslie and Grayson Leslie. He was a beloved brother to his identical twin, Donald (Deborah) Keeley, his brother Allen “Doc” (Brenda) Keeley, and his sister Tawnya (Jamie) Curatola. He was also a beloved uncle, brother-in-law, neighbor and friend.

In addition to his parents, Doran was preceded in death by his step-father Thomas M. Nye.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. at the Bessemer Presbyterian Church (29 N. Main St., Bessemer), with a Memorial Service to follow at 4 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bessemer Rod and Gun Club or the Bessemer Presbyterian Church.
