Clyde "Red" M. Bartley, 98, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Northview Estates in Ellwood City. He was the son of the late Eugene and Mable (Kile) Bartley and was born April 29, 1927, in Harmony Junction, PA

Clyde is survived by his son; Brad Bartley and his wife Sandy of Monaca, his grandchildren; Aaron Bartley of Monaca and his partner Will Wood, Jessica Bartley-Voytko and her husband Benjamin of McCandless Twp, two great-granddaughters; Madison Lee Miller of Dover, OH, and Evie Lee Voytko McCandless Twp.

Red attended Zelienople High School School. He enlisted in US Army during World War II and served in the European Theater, specifically in Germany until the end of the war. Upon coming home to Pennsylvania, he met and married the love of his life, Rose Battilocchi and they were married 60 years, until her passing in 2016. Clyde was also a 60-year member of the Ellwood-Parian Lodge No. 599 of the F&AM. He and his family were longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City. He served on the Church Council and the Church Building Committee He served on the Board of the Ellwood City Hospital and was very active in the Boy Scouts. Clyde was also named Man of the Year of Moraine Trail’s Council of the Boy Scouts of America. One accolade of Clyde’s life as a US Army Veteran was that he was the last known living World War II Veteran from Ellwood City.

He was a builder by trade, and along with his wife Rose they owned their own construction company and built many of the homes in Ellwood City and their surrounding townships as well commercial work including the Ellwood City Forge, Wesbanco, Ellwood City Hospital, Calgon, and Westinghouse. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed working in his yard and keeping his home beautiful. He was very much a “Tinkerer”. He was a perfectionist in all that he did. Clyde also loved traveling and spending time at his camp, in Tionesta and being in the woods. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Clyde was a true provider for his family, for his entire life. He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by so many.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rose Battilocchi, his siblings; Blaine Bartley, William “Bill” Bartley, Mary Crawford, Mable Bartley.

Friends may call on the family on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 1:00PM-2:30PM at Turner-Hyde Funeral & Cremation Services in Ellwood City, with a Masonic Funeral Service followed by Military Honors conducted by the Veteran's Honor Guard, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00PM with Reverend David A. Snyder and Reverend Peggy Suhr-Barkley, officiating at Turner-Hyde.

Interment will be in Prairie Cemetery located in Harriville

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in Clyde’s name, to Trinity Lutheran Church located at 207 Spring Avenue in Ellwood City.

The family would like to thank the staff of Northview Estates for their compassion and care during Clyde’s time there.
