Marilyn Cortes

December 11, 1951 - March 12, 2022

Marilyn D. Cortes, 70, of Ellwood City passed away at her home, on March 12, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Jean (Hoffman) Cortes and was born December 11, 1951, in Ellwood City. She is survived by her sisters; Yvonne Cortes of Orange Park, FL, Susan DiTommaso and her husband Mike of Ellwood City, her nephews; Brian Oliastro and his wife Melanie of Middleburg, FL, Frank Oliastro of Orange Park, FL, Michael DiTommaso of Ellwood City, and two great-niece and nephews; Alicia and Aaron Oliastro of Middleburg, FL. She was a 1970 graduate of Lincoln High School. Marilyn was always known as a people person and enjoyed waitressing from Pizza Hut to Cracker Barrel. She retired, after 25 years of service as a Turnpike Supervisor for the Florida Turnpike. She was an avid league bowler, especially on the Thursday’s women’s league, at Sims. She loved bingo. She also was an avid and superfan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Steelers. She also loved and adored her dog, Princess. Marilyn was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She was pre-decease by her brother; Phillip Cortes and one nephew; Tom Oliastro Friends may call on the family from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Turner Funeral Home, with a Blessing Service being held at 7:00pm, with Pastoral Assistant Kay Ann Bellissimo, officiating A Graveside Committal Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, with Pastoral Assistant Kay Ann Bellissimo, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, in Ellwood City. The family would like to thank Allegheny Health Hospice and Dr. Mohammad Islam and his staff for their excellent care of Marilyn. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations, in Marilyn’s name to St. Jude.
