Harry J. Cooper, Sr.

Harry J. Cooper, Sr., 68, of Franklin Twp., (Ellwood City) unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, December 19, 2010.

He was born in Ellwood City on January 18, 1942 to the late Earl D. Cooper and the late Beatrice E. Derrow Cooper.

He currently worked at Inmetco in Ellwood City as a security guard. Prior to that, he worked as an auto mechanic in his own garage, and before that, at the former Ellwood Works of US Steel, where he was a crane man in the cold draw department.

He attended the Ellwood City Free Methodist Church.

His hobby was working on cars. He also loved his dog Mandy. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and most of all spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Carol J. Lutz Cooper, with whom he just celebrated their 50 year wedding anniversary, as they were married on November 30, 1960.

He is also survived by four sons and one daughter: Harry Cooper Jr. of Chewton; Mark A. (and Donna) Cooper of Bessemer; Earl D. (and Lynda) Cooper of Fombell; and Larry A. Cooper and Stacy L. Staples, both of Ellwood City.

Nine grandchildren and three great grandsons also survive.

He is also survived by four brothers and three sisters: Thomas F. Cooper of Wampum; Raymond S. Cooper of Knoxville, TN; Douglas G. Cooper; Sarah Toma; and Darlene Link, all of New Castle; Ruth Brooks of Waterford, PA; and Brian C. Cooper of Ellwood City.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law Bernice Lutz of Ellwood City, and by two aunts, brothers and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Charles E. Cooper, Francis Cooper, and Calvin Cooper; and two sisters: Eleanor Santillo and Saundra Lutz.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday, December 21 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, Ellwood City.

Services will be conducted at TURNERS, on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Goodman II of the Ellwood City Free Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery of Beaver Falls.
